Hyundai Verna Fluidic Most Stylish Sedan From Hyundai

Hyundai Verna Fluidic- The Stylish Sedan

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), the Korean automaker, launched the Verna in 2006 as a replacement model for the Hyundai Accent which was a trend setter for the company in the 1990s. After its launch, the Verna was not performing to what was expected of it and hence was given a face lift in the name of Verna Transform in 2010. This model also was not pretty successful in the Indian market. Starting from scratch, they designed the New Fluidic Verna which gets a European touch to its design and was launched in May 2011. The Fluidic Verna comes with 4 engine options-2 diesel and 2 petrol and is available in 10 variants-5 diesel and 5 petrol.

The petrol and diesel variants come in both 1.4L and 1.6L engines with the 1.4L petrol engine giving 106 bhp maximum power and a maximum torque of 135 Nm whereas the 1.6L petrol engine gives a staggering 122 bhp maximum power and a maximum torque of 156 Nm. The 1.4L diesel engine gives a maximum power of 90 bhp and maximum torque of 224 Nm whereas the 1.6L diesel engine gives a maximum power of 126 bhp and maximum torque of 265 Nm. The base variant of petrol, 1.4EX is priced competitively at Rs 7.45 lakhs whereas there are other petrol options like the 1.6EX, 1.6SX, 1.6 SX(O) & 1.6SX(O)AT. The base variant of diesel, 1.4EX is priced at Rs 9.54 lakhs and other diesel variants comprise of the 1.6EX, 1.6SX, 1.6SX(O) & 1.6SX(O)AT. The Fluidic Verna is priced competitively with the likes of the Vento, Fiesta, Rapid and Sunny.

According to ARAI, the mileage figure of the 1.4 petrol is 17.43 kmpl and 1.4 diesel is 23.5 kmpl whereas the 1.6 petrol is found to give 17 kmpl and 1.6 diesel gives about 22.32 kmpl. The interiors of the fluidic Verna seem to be a delight for the owner and are found to be very much appealing unlike its previous generations. Some notable features of the top medal of the Verna include Dash integrated music system, USB, AUX and iPod compatibility, Automatic climate control system; Steering mounted audio controls, remote central locking, and Push button engine start/stop system among others. The exterior design of the Fluidic Verna is also new to the Indian car market-much like a European way of exterior looks & styling. It gets all-new head lights, tail lights, fog lights, bonnet and boot, body coloured bumpers, door handles and outside rear view mirrors, Chrome insert in door handles, Alloy Wheels, Rear Defogger and Chrome finished exhausts.

Overall, the new Verna is a huge step in Hyundai’s automotive dream in the Indian car market scenario. It scores well in its appealing new looks, loads of equipment, performance, engine and transmission options which suits every individual customer’s need and competitive price in its segment. The suspension of the car has been reworked from its previous generations and the car looks very comfortable when it comes to ride quality. The car is indeed a value for money and a front runner in its segment with the likes of the City, Vento and Fiesta making the competition even healthier. However, there are certain things Hyundai Motor India Limited has to take care if the new Verna is bound to become the segment leader. Those things include sharper response & handling, steering feel and refining the engines further. Keeping in mind these things, it is concluded that the new Verna still has some ground to cover on its way to the top.
