Seven Tips For Used Car Buying

Seven Major Factors For Buying A Used Car

BUDGET

The first and foremost thing is the budget which you are planning to spend on your car.  Refer forums specially for used cars, compare the prices of new one and the used one of the same car and also you can ask your friends who know better about cars.

MILEAGE

Price of the car mainly depends on age, model and mileage of the car. It’s upto you to choose the model and the other criteria.  Better prefer a less driven car.

DO NOT BUY ON IMPULSE

Your impulsion will drive you in a wrong direction.  Examine the car for all the documents and its history before buying. If you are driven by momentum you’ll never mind these things.  And never feel lazy to visit various showrooms.

GO WITH MECHANIC

“Don’t judge a book by its cover”, likewise do not estimate a vehicle with panoramic view.  Examine the car with a mechanic who is loyal to you and also have a test drive to know the comforts of the car.

DEALERSHIP OR DIRECT CUSTOMER?

Both has its own pros and cons.  If individual,

  • Does he really want to sell his car?
  • Was the car well maintained?
  • Would he tell everything about the car even the bad stuff?

If Dealership, you need to verify the documents.  The rest of the things will be handled by your mechanic in both the cases.

FINANCE

Finance can be arranged with ease if you are planning to purchase a new car.  But in the case of old car, the age and the model of the car plays a vital role in the finance arrangement.

“The age of the car and the tenure of the loan combine together would generally not exceed seven years”, says Rajan Pental.  So if a car is two years old, one can get a loan for five years.

NEGOTIATE and NAIL DOWN

If you are satisfied with everything about the car, go for negotiation. Negotiate at the drop of a hat and Close the deal happily.

On A Side Note

Colour of the car can be chosen as you wish.  But for a hot country like India white is more preferable than other colours because dark colours particularly black absorbs harmful uv rays
